July 8, 2015: Wayne finally musters some kind words for Young Thug and his now-aborted Carter 6 idea, saying he “appreciates” the homage. On it, Wayne disses Young Thug and declares that “Cash Money Weezy” is dead (and therefore can’t come to the phone right now, presumably).

July 4, 2015: Wayne releases a mixtape called FWA, short for The Free Weezy Album, as an exclusive via JAY-Z’s Tidal streaming service. A month later, Young Thug’s road manager, Jimmy Winfrey, is arrested for the shooting.
